Scalable in Every Dimension
The Nextra system is fully scalable to Petabytes of storage. Nextra applies scalability to
every aspect of the system:
- Scales to Petabytes - Storage capacity can be scaled up to Petabytes
of storage.
- Linear cache growth - Nextra's cache size increases linearly with disk capacity, as
every data module contains its own cache. Nextra's cache bandwidth toward both disks and hosts increases linearly with cache size.
- Proportional interface growth - The number of host interfaces, as well as the
bandwidth between them and the data modules, can grow
in proportion to the system's capacity. This provides
a proportional increase in the number of supported
applications and total throughput.
- Constant switching capacity - Internal switching capacity is maintained at 4 Gbit/sec
for each module and, therefore, never creates a bottleneck
regardless of the number of modules. This ensures
that throughput grows proportionally to capacity.
- Embedded processing power - Processing power is embedded in each module; as a result, system size has no adverse effect on snapshot management, caching, or rebuild performance.
