Interoperability

The IBM XIV Storage System offers extensive interoperability with host software and diverse storage products. IBM XIV Host Attachment Kits simplify host configuration and management by providing a common host attachment framework, with storage management, troubleshooting, support utilities, and connectivity setup.
  • Host connectivity. Host attachment kits are available for Microsoft® Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX
  • Concurrent native multipath software support. IBM XIV's active/active storage array is uniquely suited to delivering host-based concurrent multipath I/O support, with many customer benefits (e.g. performance, bandwidth utilization)
  • Integrates with diverse storage products, including:
    • IBM platforms. Linux, Power VM for IBM POWER systems with System I, System P and Linux over POWER clients, IBM AIX (including native AIX MPIO driver with performance improvement)
    • IBM Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) solutions. Tivoli Productivity Center (TPC); TSM Copy Services, TSM Advanced Copy Services
    • Other: GPFS on AIX, PowerHA (known as HACMP), Scale Out File System, Storage Foundation for Windows, Symantec VCS, VMWare, VSS Provider (providing engine for hardware-independent snapshot create and restore), Windows cluster
